Desktop-only (for now)

Beach requires a desktop browser to set up. Once your agent is running, you can chat from anywhere.

What this is

Beach's signup and setup app currently blocks phones and tablets. You need a desktop or laptop browser to create an account, provision your server, paste your provider key, and connect a channel. Once that's done, you can use your agent from any device — phones absolutely included.

Why setup is desktop-only

Onboarding involves a few steps that don't translate well to a small screen: copy-pasting tokens between Beach and your AI provider's site, walking through the BotFather flow for Telegram, and following a multi-step wizard with side-by-side instructions. We'd rather gate the flow on desktop than ship a mobile experience that's frustrating and error-prone. We'll revisit this once we trim the wizard down to something that genuinely works on a phone.

What works on phone today

A lot, actually:

  • Your agent on Telegram (and other channels as they ship) — that's the whole point. Messaging apps were built for phones. Once the channel is connected, you'll spend most of your time here.
  • The OpenClaw Control UI at your subdomain (sd-xxxxxxxx.beachhost.io) — the OpenClaw team designed it to work on mobile, so reading sessions, browsing memory, and managing skills from your phone is fine. See Opening the Control UI for how to bookmark it.

What doesn't work on phone today

  • Signing up at app.beachhost.io — the page detects mobile and asks you to switch to desktop.
  • Beach Settings (your dashboard) — billing, provider keys, channel setup, instance controls. Use a laptop for these.

Common pitfalls

  • "I tried to sign up on my phone and got blocked." Switch to a desktop or laptop, finish setup there, and you're free to use your agent from your phone afterward.
  • "I want to update my provider key while I'm out." Beach Settings is desktop-only for now. The Control UI on your subdomain works on mobile, but provider keys are managed in Beach Settings, not the Control UI.
