Updating your payment method

Update your card or payment method via the Stripe Customer Portal.


What this is

Your card lives with Stripe, not with Beach. To add a new card or replace the one on file, you open the Stripe Customer Portal from inside Beach.

Steps

  1. Open Beach Settings.
  2. Go to the Billing section.
  3. Click Manage billing. This opens the Stripe Customer Portal.
  4. Open Payment methods.
  5. Add a new payment method, or update the existing one. Set the one you want as the default.

What happens if a payment fails

If a charge fails — expired card, insufficient funds, anything Stripe rejects — you enter a brief grace period. Stripe sends reminder emails and retries the charge a few times. Your subscription stays active during this window. As soon as you fix the payment method, you're back to normal.

If the grace period expires without a successful charge, the subscription cancels automatically. From that point your instance follows the same path as a manual cancellation: it stops at the end of the billing period, your data is held for 14 days, then permanently deleted.
